We often ignore the fact that our brain is the most important organ in our body. Both sides of the brain are important each has particular traits that are associated with it. Understanding this is an integral part for the success of your marketing career.

Both sides of the brain play a crucial role in us being the person that we are. The most prevalent traits that you have could be because you are allowing either your left brain or right brain to be more dominant compared to the other.

In any business, your marketing will be most effective if you use both your right and left brain in equal measure. Everyone uses both the left brain and right brain, but in most people one side will be more dominant than the other. The side of the brain and the level of the dominance will have a significant affect on the type of marketing that people respond to. By ensuring that you engage both your left brain and right brain in the creation of your marketing message, you can ensure that your message will appeal to the largest audience.

Left brain people tend use logic and are detail oriented. Careful use of words and language are important and facts rule. They tend to live more in the present and past than the future, and are like to be very practical and safe. These people tend to like to understand something clearly.

Right brain people tend to use uses feels and are “big picture” oriented. The are easily led if you engage their imagination with symbols and images. They tend to be more present and future orientated than past orientated, and look at the world in a more philosophical way, looking for meaning. They have a strong ability to visualise possibilities and can be more impetuous.

For any marketing strategy to be fully effective you must engage both the left brain and right brain in your message. It has been said that people buy for emotional reasons and justify with logic, which tends to be true, so engage with the right brain and satisfy the left brain to make the sale.
